The pursuit of higher quality - the scientific principle of curved TV 2 (image quality)

Figure 1: Chinese TV companies promote TV quality posters

The battle for quality of televisions has become increasingly fierce. With the popularization of digital television in the 21st century, high-definition television has gradually entered people's field of vision.

Full HD TV, 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution Ultra HD TV has only recently come out, recently there are rumors of 8K (76804320) TV coming soon. Consumers want to watch programs on high-definition TVs, so how to pick high-definition TVs has also become a science.

Determine the three basic elements of TV picture quality

1) Resolution: When the product size is the same, the more dense the pixels, the sharper the picture quality.

The important performance indicator that determines the clear picture quality is the resolution just mentioned. The screen resolution is the precision of the screen image and refers to how many pixels the display screen can display. The more pixels that can be displayed on the display screen, the more information that can be displayed in the screen area. In the same way, the more accurate the image display is.

2) Color Reproducibility: Natural Color, Perfect Rendering

Color reproduction power refers to the extent to which TV screens present the original color of a thing, depending on whether the color presented by the TV screen can meet the requirements of the international color standard. For example, a television whose color reproduction power reaches 90% of the color reproduction standard specified by Adobe RGB (adobe RGB) can exhibit a color closer to natural reality than a television that satisfies only a 70% color reproduction standard. (For example, 90% of TVs that meet the Photoshop Adobe RGB standard will be closer to natural and realistic colors than 70% of TVs.)

3) Brightness contrast: The clearer the brightness and contrast, the clearer the picture

Brightness and contrast are critical parts of the display screen. With the increase of screen brightness, the display screen will show more clear images, and the change of contrast will make the bright part brighter and the dark part darker, so as to achieve the ideal effect of bright and dark, the display screen can show more abundant color. The level of contrast can be defined by how many "stairs" the part between the brightest part (white) and the darkest part (black) can be divided into. If the middle part is divided into 10,000 steps, the contrast can be expressed as 10000:1.

Surface TV brings you to a higher level of quality

While the television resolution, color reproduction, brightness, contrast and other related technologies are improving, the appearance of curved television technology has enabled television manufacturing technology to achieve a revolutionary advancement and has improved the quality of television to a new level.

The brightness and contrast of the image quality will be affected by the change of viewing angle. When the audience is facing the TV screen (that is, the audience is at a vertical angle to the TV), it is the best angle for brightness and contrast. As the viewing angle deviates, the brightness and contrast decrease accordingly. As shown in the figure below, when viewing a program on a flat-screen TV, as the viewing angle deviates, the picture quality in the peripheral part of the display screen decreases.

The key point to solve this problem is whether it can make the viewer's line of sight always keep a vertical angle with the TV screen. Obviously, in terms of physics, flat-panel TVs cannot achieve this effect. The curved TV, which has recently been hotly debated, has become the best solution to this problem. Curved TV allows the viewing distance to be kept even and the viewer's line of sight is always perpendicular to the screen, thus perfectly solving the above problems.

Figure 6: CESI certification

According to the test report of the China Electronics Standardization Institute (CESI), the brightness uniformity and contrast of a 55-inch curved display (4000 curvature) produced by a well-known display manufacturer is 14% higher than that of a flat display and 45 %. The clearer the brightness contrast between black and white, the higher the contrast. At the same time, the more consistent the brightness from the center of the screen to the screen, the higher the contrast.

※ 4000R curvature refers to the degree of curvature of a circle with a radius of 4000mm

The CESI technician made the following evaluation: "The contrast and image quality of the curved display screen produced by this manufacturer is more than several levels higher than that of the flat display screen. The "absolute immersion" of the curved display screen is based on the evaluation result. In the relevant data.

"Ultra-large, ultra-clear picture quality" has become the mainstream trend of the current TV market, and Samsung TV, Hisense, TCL, Konka and other major TV manufacturers have also chosen "curved TV" in pursuit of "excellent picture quality." The structure of the curved TV is based on human body eyeball structure as the starting point of ergonomics, enabling the eyeball to enjoy high-definition quality television programs in a comfortable environment.

The television replacement period is relatively long, so it is more necessary to "shop around and consider carefully" when purchasing. In addition to basic indicators such as "HD quality, resolution, color reproduction, brightness, contrast", "surface" is included in an important indicator of the purchase of television.
