Car intelligence will become mainstream 2025 or achieve autonomous driving

At the 2017 China Automotive Innovation Summit, representatives of the automotive industry have reached a consensus on the emergence of a new ecological chain for smart driving, and intelligent automotive will become the absolute mainstream in the future.

With the development of intelligence, self-driving cars are becoming the focus of attention in the industry. At the 2017 China Automotive Innovation Summit, representatives of the automotive industry have reached a consensus on the emergence of a new ecological chain for smart driving, and intelligent automotive will become the absolute mainstream in the future.

This is a powerful clash of ideas. On May 19, the 2017 China Automotive Summit, sponsored by the 21st Century Economic Newspaper, was held at the Conrad Beijing Hotel.

“Intelligent driving is unstoppable. It is not only the sound of Chang’an but also the voice of the Chinese automobile industry. Today we have formed a high degree of consensus that a new ecological chain should emerge. This ecological chain comes from the Internet.” Chairman of the China Society of Automotive Engineering pays Yu Wu said at the summit.

In the roundtable dialogue on the theme of "automotive intelligence and unmanned driving", guests hosted Zhao Fuquan, dean of the Institute of Automotive Strategy at Tsinghua University, and brought the entire forum to a climax.

The guests of the dialogue included: Fu Yuwu, Chairman of the China Society of Automotive Engineering, Yan Xuebin, Vice President of Baidu, Xu Daquan, Executive Vice President of Bosch China, Wei Dong, President of Gaode Automotive Division, Chief Technology Officer of General Motors China, Yaslon Technology Liu Xiaozhi, founder of the company, Wang Ke, partner and president assistant of Roland Berg Greater China, and Wu Lijun, dean of Beijing Institute of Chang'an Automobile.

Intelligent Network Alliance Creates New Automotive Ecology

"21st Century Business Herald" (hereinafter referred to as "21st Century"): When the car enters the intelligent network, there are both technical problems and business models. There are problems with the infrastructure of the government and more problems with the industrial platform. Please talk about how you understand the connotation, extension, and real relationship between smart cars, networked cars, and autonomous driving.

Yan Xuebin: I think that networked networking and automated driving are all areas of intelligence, making cars smarter and smarter. Then they will become safer, more efficient, and make a great change in the way the community travels.

Xu Daquan: Automatic driving is the future trend and is the ultimate goal. Networking is actually a necessary condition for the realization of automatic driving. Intelligent control is also the brain and core of smart driving, and smart driving must have network connection.

Wu Lijun: If it is a manual car, it uses two hands, two feet, eyes, and brain. If you become an automatic car, you have left your left foot. If you cruise at a constant speed, you don’t have to step on the gas pedal, liberate your right foot, and with ACC, you free up your hand. If you can't find the road, use a map. With the map, you will enter the network. So first smart, automatic car to the car network, and then truly unmanned.

"21st Century": Now the most popular word is the automobile ecology. Some companies are also mentioning ecological strategies. How do you understand the ecology of the automobile?

Liu Xiaozhi: The automobile ecology is the life and revolution that automobiles bring to people in our society. Now that we have a new energy vehicle and smart assisted driving, not only can we have fewer cars on the road, but we can increase the amount of automobiles by 20%. Therefore, the automobile industry will continue to grow.

Wei Dong: Participating in car construction is not really an Internet company's specialty, because after all, it is two different industries. Looking at cars now is nothing more than a change in the environment and time we discovered. It incorporates networks and artificial intelligence. After these things are added, the ecological environment may have to change, but the entire so-called ecology still follows very basic principles. That is, everyone coexists in symbiosis and forms a more benign cycle with each other.

Zhao Fuquan: In fact, my understanding is not that there was no ecology in the past. It was just that the ecosystem was relatively small, the chain was relatively short, and the upstream raw materials, downstream purchase, and use were all on the line. With the arrival of the Internet of Things, people can make travel more convenient, happier and safer in this process. Personally, I think that the entire chain of use of cars and vehicles has become longer and the number of parties involved has become ecological.

The car is not well-made, this is the reason why the traditional car companies are not optimistic about the Internet car manufacturers, but the Internet people think that the future car is more intelligent, hardware is a necessary condition, but it is not a sufficient condition, the software may dominate, and even many leaders Think that software can define the car and define the brand. At this time, it means to subvert you. After two or three years of operation, we now say that we are mutually dependent and embrace each other.

Industry is optimistic about open smart systems

"21st Century": The biggest news of the Shanghai auto show is not that a company has pushed a car, but Baidu suddenly announced the "Apollo plan." In the end, Apollo plans to conquer who is still subversive, in the end it is to do the platform, or to do ecology?

Yan Xuebin: “Apollo” is ecological in itself, but its purpose is to create a platform for everyone to profit from this platform. Apollo is a software platform, where we will open some elements of the smart car, such as the decision-making module's original code and the opening of some 4G databases.

"21st Century": When Baidu announced the Apollo plan, several families laughed. Baidu unmanned driving will have an impact on the industry?

Wei Dong: Gao De's English name is AMap. Our dream is to make a map and make a living map. What we want to do is very clear. We just want to make a map. We can find a lot of things on the hands of people, and we can navigate on the car. If you are driving, you can navigate the human brain. Integrate with computer navigation. This is a good thing. Perhaps one day Baidu will knock on our door and say I want to use your AMap.

Xu Daquan: The data of future autonomous driving is important to us and important to the OEM. It is also very important for the Gaode map and Baidu map. After the Apollo plan came out, if this platform can really be used as a bridge to connect various suppliers and OEMs together, and through this platform, everyone can exchange a lot of data. It is entirely conceivable that everyone can actively participate.

Wu Lijun: At the time of release, I thought I had a big deal. It is best to develop this system without money. Tesla's system is the smart car's Apple system, Baidu's is the smart car's Android system, and of course Gore does an Android system.

How far is driverless?

"21st Century": What kind of time schedule do you think about achieving autopilot?

Yan Xuebin: From a technical point of view, it can be mature in 2025, and it will start from commercialization around 2021. Personal purchases will occur in 2025, and will increase substantially after 2035.

Liu Xiaozhi: I think that this time I think is feasible, but now the world’s truly demonstrative city is only less than four-tenths of the global population. Really want to use, do not promote not. There may be something new, there will be some new regulations, and perhaps not allowing full drones.

Wu Lijun: I think it is 2025. First, technology maturity; second, support for infrastructure and infrastructure regulations; third, cost.

Wang Ke: We divided autopilot into five phases: first, assisted driving, including ACC and roadway detour systems; secondly, we were able to free our hands and there might be some automatic parking functions; and third, we could automatically open after parking. , but it needs people to control, this time is still inseparable from the people, not fully automatic; Fourth, automatic, people do not control, and sit on the top, help you after parking, maybe you can directly open again; Five, completely intelligent, people are redundant, one day the car will say do not touch.

Fu Yuwu: From a technical perspective, intelligence will develop rapidly and at the same time it will be a gradual process. In 2021, it will be good in 2025, but it will not be completely smart driving quickly. Technology needs imagination, but it's gradual. Driverlessness is our highest realm and goal pursued, but the three-level and the four-level are likely to be realized soon, and the ultimate goal must rely on all aspects of efforts.

China’s development of intelligent network-linked vehicles has its own advantage. Recently, the general secretary has issued instructions on smart driving, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has decided that smart driving and intelligent network-linked vehicles will set up a substantial innovative engineering center. This is a great advantage. I believe that under the strong promotion of the government and our cross-border integration, Chinese automobiles are likely to achieve leapfrog development in the direction of electrification, low carbonization, and intelligence.
