The Weidmüller WMC configuration software is a software used to assemble and order terminal strips for Weidmüller products. The program was developed in cooperation with the software provider Zuken and can provide support for planners with integrated engineering design workflows, from planning using the ECAD system to documentation. The German manufacturer Weidmüller based in Detmold is a leader in preparing 3D product data, a technology called "digital twin". Users can use 3D drawing to select the required components. The software can automatically check whether the assembled components are compatible.

The data can be fully integrated into all common engineering tools, such as ePlan P8, WSCAD or Zuken E3. A very convenient function is the built-in rationality check, which can automatically add baffles, contact protection and fixed blocks according to requirements. The Weidmüller WMC software can then send the prepared data set back to the engineering design system so that the user can continue to process the complete data set.

Automatic assembly machine and semi-automatic installation

The automatic assembly machine is used for customer-specific terminal assembly, and the order data from the WMC system flows directly into the production plan of the assembly machine. Therefore, specific one-off production is also cost-effective. For example, DIN rails can be automatically cut according to length requirements, and the product number and QR code are engraved. These numbers and QR codes can be used to track the configuration of each finished product during the entire life cycle.


Once the terminal strip has completed the assembly of the common terminal parts, it will complete the assembly of other parts in the manual workstation, such as equipped with marking numbers, bridges and some missing parts. In order to improve production efficiency and fail-safety, each terminal strip can be automatically identified, and the required components with self-developed electronic label solutions will be displayed to the staff.

This unique combination currently on the market can save installation time, improve fail-safety, and reduce the space required for terminal rails by up to 50%.


The choice between AAP and maxGuard depends on how big a fuse is needed. If you decide to omit surge current protection measures when creating the equipment concept, you can use AAP to implement a compact potential distribution system without any fuses. If necessary, a separate fuse can be added to the system later. However, if you want to take full advantage of the integrated solution, AAP combined with a safety fuse holder will be the right choice.


If you want greater availability, maxGuard with reactivable electronic fuses will be the right choice. Maxguard can trip very quickly in about 10 milliseconds and then immediately reactivate. Because of these characteristics, it is recommended to be used for fuse protection of sensitive electronic consumer products, such as control components or remote I/O components. For these components, even a very short interruption of the power supply voltage will cause loss of function or unnecessary restart.
