What parameters do WCDMA systems need to measure when switching?
The intra-mode handover of the WCDMA system depends on the Ec / Io obtained by the terminal measuring CPICH. The specific definitions of terminal measurement parameters are as follows:
ï¬ The received signal code power (CPICH RSCP) is the received power on the main common pilot channel (P-CPICH);
ï¬ The total received broadband power (RTWP) is the total signal power received on the 3.84MHz bandwidth;
ï¬ Ec / Io, defined as RSCP / RTWP, indicates the received signal code power divided by the total received broadband power.
The actual switching algorithm uses Ec / Io as the judgment object. In addition to Ec / Io, soft handover also requires relative timing information between cells. In an asynchronous network, the soft handover needs to adjust the synchronization of the air interface transmission so that the terminal's Rake receiver performs coherent combining, otherwise the transmission from different cells will be difficult to combine, and it will bring additional delay to the power control of soft handover. In a specific operation, the newly added cell that joins the active set adjusts the downlink timing based on the received RNC information using 256 chips as a step.
