Study on the North Wei Lamps Unearthed in Pingcheng Area (Photos)

According to its material, there are stone lamps, iron lamps and pottery lamps, among which the number of excavated stone lamps is the largest. The various lamps are various in shape and are mainly characterized by simplicity and practicality.

Type I: white sandstone, hemispherical lamp bowl, cylindrical lamp holder, base similar to lamp bowl. The bottom diameter is 11, and the height is 24 cm. The surface is carved and rough. Specimen Datong South Suburb M102: 31 (Figure 1, 1).

Type IV: Hemispherical lamp plate, cylindrical handle, square base under the upper circle. The lamp panel is a straight mouth, a square lip, and a flat bottom. The caliber is 12.4 cm, the base diameter is 12.4, and the height is 22.1 cm. The table is carved with clear traces. Specimen Yingbin Avenue Northern Wei Tomb M3934 (Figure 1, 4. V: white sandstone. Specimen Northern Suburbs Beiwei Tomb Group M VI: Three pieces unearthed, made of yellow-white sandstone. It consists of a hemispherical lamp bowl, a cylindrical handle and a base below the upper circle. The three pieces are basically the same size. The height is 52 cm. The shape of the bowl is 16.5 cm in diameter, 9.5 cm in height, the waist of the lampstand is 30.5 cm, and the side of the base is 17 cm long. The base is 12 cm high with the two-story table above it. The specimen is small station village flower 疙瘩 Taipei Wei Tomb 6 (Figure One, 6. Type B: A stone lamp consisting of a shallow disc-shaped lamp bowl and a square lamp holder, divided into three types.

The base is cut into a slip shoulder at the junction with the lamp panel. Two holes are symmetrically chiseled in the middle. The aperture is 1.3~2.1 cm, the height is 10.8 cm, and the diameter is 7.4~9.2 cm. The base length is 10.4 and the width is 4.8 cm. Specimen Yingbin Avenue Northern Wei Tombs M84:1 (Figure 2, 1).

Type C: sandstone. Domed light plate, square lip. There are traces of haze on the inner wall. The trumpet-shaped high base is thicker from top to bottom. The caliber is 12.8, the bottom diameter is 12.6, and the height is 20.8 cm. Specimen Qili Village Northern Wei Tombs M14:1110. Yingbin Avenue Northern Wei Tombs M88:1 has been unearthed from this type of lamp, which is slightly different from the Qili Village M14 in the lower part of the hemispherical lamp plate with a diamond band (Fig. 3).

The second category, the pottery lamp: There are mainly ceramic lamps and multi-branched lamps based on the shape of beans. According to their shape, they can be divided into 5 types.

Type A: muddy gray pottery. The round lamp post is connected to the base under the light bowl. The lamp bowl is a shallow abdomen and a flat lip. The lamp post is hollowed out with four symmetrical rectangular holes. The seat is flared and has a triangular hole in the upper part.

The lamp bowl has a diameter of 12.7, a column diameter of 5.8, a seat diameter of 16.1 cm, and a height of 13.4 cm. Specimen Yingbin Avenue Northern Wei Tombs M56: 41l (Figure B: for the multi-headlights, has been damaged. The whole is bean-shaped, shallow braided lamp, decorated with fine chords and zigzag. There are traces of smoke. Sliding handle, It is open-bamboo-shaped, with two layers of arc-shaped convex in the upper middle part, and 8 circular perforations for inserting the lamp cymbal. The base is hollow and cylindrical, with string pattern. The diameter is 18.3 cm, the bottom diameter is 17.7 cm, and the height is 54 cm. Qili Village Northern Wei Tombs M35:1112 (Fig. 4, 2. Type C: placed in the southeast corner of the tomb. The lamp panel is in the shape of a scorpion, with rounded lips and shallow abdomen, with a diameter of 11.8 and a depth of 3.1 cm. The cylindrical decoration serves as a handle. The base is round and the lower part is adducted.
