In the spring of last year, Zhao Zhengyun, a junior at the School of Design at Jiangnan University, participated in the contest “Cobos Ideas†through a poster on the school's billboards. As for why pet companion robots, Zhao Zhengyun's reason is very clear. He is a pet lover. Being a pet companion robot is to see that his pet is not taken care of at home. To the pet shop or a friend, a lot of unpleasant things happen. Things, and the existing pet companion devices are functionally flawed and cannot meet personal needs.
Zhao Zhengyun believes that pet owners will treat their pets as family members and partners, and will not spend money on pets for consumption and investment, and they will want to give pets a better life to the maximum extent they can afford. Because of this, Zhao Zhengyun was so eager to change the pet's separation from his master, like the separation between children and their parents and lovers, even though Zhao Zhengyun’s pet was just a kitten.
To this end, Zhao Zhengyun has conducted in-depth research on pets and pet equipment markets using his spare time. “We want to avoid the habit of consistently judging pets based on people’s needs. Zhao Zhengyun stated that the BONI pet companion robot won the first prize of the Creators Design category, which verified the feasibility and potential commercial value of his ideas and concepts.
From the student maker to the entrepreneur, there is a big gap
With ideas, enthusiasm, and product design basis, together with the results of the creative show, Zhao Zhengyun called his classmate Fu Yunpeng, and with the support of part-time students, he started his own product research and development. "With this demonstration document, I convinced my graduate design tutor that the tutor saw the value of this design if it could be brought to the ground and made BONI a complete project of his own." Graduating, facing another choice of life, Zhao Zhengyun and Fu Yunpeng said they will continue to follow the path of entrepreneurship. “I will not choose regular employment jobs because many domestic company work designers are not able to achieve their own concepts and ideas. In the long term, they can easily lose their original strength and some opportunities.
