In the overall electric vehicle market, LeTV has many competitors. How much is it winning?

In this year, new models have continuously entered the market, and the government's support policies and incentives for electric vehicles have also greatly promoted the sales of electric vehicles. LeTV's main attack automatic driving "Level 3 and Level 4"

In addition, as the former senior scientist of Baidu Deep Learning Research Institute and now the vice president of LeTV Supercar (China), Ni Kai accepted the interview with Ren Yuning and other media.

Ni Kai believes that improving LeTV's technology accumulation in the field of automatic driving and solving the problem of coordination between mass production and reliability of autos is one of its top priorities. However, unlike other companies that focus on autonomous driving, LeTV is more concerned with the development and accumulation of post-automatic driving technology.

As we all know, the industry usually divides the automatic driving into four stages according to the level of automation: the driving assistance stage, the partial automation stage, the highly automated stage, and the fully automated stage. Among them, driving assistance and partial automation are the automation systems currently being developed and initially installed by car companies, such as lane departure warning systems and automatic emergency braking.

In Ni Kai's view, the early stage of the development of automation systems, the correlation between algorithms and hardware is very high, and the complexity of the algorithm is weak. At present, many suppliers can already do very mature, and LeTV has no comparative advantage with the competition. Therefore, LeTV is more inclined to exert its power in the “Level 3 and Level 4” stage of autonomous driving. When selecting specific projects, it also prefers the medium-term project of 2-3 years and the long-term project with longer timeline, so as to be more favorable. The advantage of playing.

According to the industry's usual understanding, the “Level 3 and Level 4” of autonomous driving corresponds to a highly automated system and a fully automated system. The former can replace the driver's responsibility to control the vehicle in a long or short period of time, while the latter can be A system in which a person drives a vehicle, allows all occupants in the vehicle to engage in other activities, and does not need to be monitored.

At present, LeTV will gradually carry and display some engineering ideas on the product. For example, on April 20th, LeEco's first supercar concept car "LeSEE" was unveiled and demonstrated the autopilot function, which automatically parked in place. However, in the process of mass production of genuine products, LeTV's ideas on autonomous driving engineering will be further adapted.

Artificial Intelligence Institute, not just autonomous driving

When talking about the specific project after joining LeTV, Ni Kai said that a lot of energy is spent on the artificial intelligence research institute.

In mid-April, the “FF & Le Future” Artificial Intelligence Institute, established by LeTV and its strategic partner FF, was established in the United States. According to the news previously disclosed by LeTV, the artificial intelligence research institute will focus on the development of AI technology and prototype products with significant practical significance. It will combine four dimensions of big data, perception technology, human-computer interaction and behavioral technology, not only the four dimensions, but not only Only autopilot technology.

In an interview, Ni Kai also said that on the schedule of the "FF & Le Future" Artificial Intelligence Institute, autonomous driving is only the starting point. In the future, the research field will gradually expand to other automotive-related technologies, including maps. Crowdsourcing, occupant status monitoring, automotive augmented reality (AR) and more. In addition, in addition to automotive products, augmented reality terminals and experiences, virtual personal assistants, smart homes and other smart areas will also become one of the in-depth areas of the artificial intelligence research institute.
