BMW said that another DriveNow car rental service currently has more than 1 million users in Europe, and in 2015 the number of users of the service was 500,000. At the same time, the service has achieved profitability.
With the continuous restrictions on private cars in China and the growing traffic congestion and environmental pollution problems, BMW hopes to continue its business in China and achieve rapid growth.

This time BMW will take the lead in investing in 100 i3s in Chengdu. After arriving at the destination, users do not need to return the car to a fixed parking lot. Whether the location of the returning vehicle is restricted is a factor that restricts the development of the car sharing project. At present, Chinese users have developed the habit of using shared bicycles, but the shared bicycle service is also facing the problem of insufficient number of returning cars, and most of them are distributed in big cities.
In recent years, shared electric vehicle services have flourished in the Chinese market, but mainly based on low-cost small electric vehicles produced by domestic automakers, including EVCard operated by SAIC and GoFun services of Shouqi Group. BMW said it will bring better quality models to the Chinese electric vehicle sharing market.
