"Belt and Road" background, photovoltaic companies usher in development opportunities

Under the background of the “One Belt and One Road” strategy, Chinese PV companies “going out” have both opportunities and challenges and should strive to improve their global capabilities.

During the 11th Summer Davos Forum, Qian Jing, vice president of Jinko Energy, said in an interview with the China Securities Journal that under the background of the “One Belt and One Road” strategy, Chinese PV companies “going out” have opportunities. There are also challenges, and efforts should be made to improve their global capabilities.

Qian Jing believes that before the launch of the "Belt and Road Initiative," photovoltaic companies "going out" are basically individual behaviors and are decisions of individual companies. They have great risks. Under the “One Belt and One Road” initiative, companies can help avoid many risks, especially geopolitical risks. Secondly, some Chinese banks, legal institutions, and chambers of commerce have set up outlets in countries along the “One Belt and One Road” to help Chinese companies reduce some of the problems caused by unfamiliarity with local laws and regulations, customs, taxes, exchange control, and exchange rate fluctuations. The loss has greatly reduced the risk of the company.

Qian Jing said that compared with European countries and the United States, the countries along the “Belt and Road” countries have experienced rapid economic growth, and the economic activity has led to strong demand for electricity. However, these countries have relatively few traditional resources such as coal and natural gas. However, these countries enjoy very good light and abundant light energy resources, which also brings rare opportunities for Chinese PV companies.

Regarding the financing difficulties and financing problems of photovoltaic companies, Qian Jing stated that many banks have now realized the importance of new energy sources and saw the business opportunities contained therein. Therefore, the problem of financing difficulties is not so prominent. The biggest problem is that financing is expensive. The bank does not have a preference for the photovoltaic industry as a green industry, and there is no rating or rating policy.

In the future, for the development of the photovoltaic industry, Qian Jing pointed out that we must start from three aspects: First, we must strengthen the binding force on energy transformation. We must not only adhere to the general direction of China's energy transition to green, low-carbon, and clean-type, but more importantly, apply new energy sources to actual operations. Second, the urgency of using new energy needs to be strengthened. The current financial, power grid, taxation, and land policies basically all serve thermal or traditional energy sources, and do not form a more scientific and detailed system for the development of new energy sources. The third is to nurture and expand the new business represented by the integration and optimization of multi-energy complementary systems and the Internet+ smart energy project.
