The US Department of Energy (DOE) will continue to advance the development of its Solid State Lighting (SSL) program and the SSL Energy Star standard, which are described below.
In mid-March, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) senior executives (rather than the SSL program team) issued a statement saying they would resolve energy between them within "45 days." Some differences arising from the star standard.
ENERGY STAR Amendments to Monolithic LED Luminaire Standards
The US Department of Energy has just released a revised draft of the ENERGY STAR standard for Integral LED Lamps. This type of lamp, often referred to as a "retrofit" or "replacement" lamp, refers to an integral LED driver, including an LED, and an ANSI standardized design base that is designed with an ANSI standardization. The lamp holder/socket is connected to the branch circuit.
The US Department of Energy announced the first round of drafts of monolithic LED luminaire standards in January 2009, and received a total of 26 letters during the review and comment period. The second round of drafts on this standard will be reviewed on June 26, 2009. The US Department of Energy estimates that the final revision of the overall LED luminaire will be announced in August 2009.
Report from the R&D Workshop
The US Department of Energy announced a summary report of the 2009 DOE Solid-State Lighting (SSL) R&D Workshop, held in San Francisco, California, February 3-5, 2009.
More than 400 participants expressed their views on the topic of "lighting shifts", which included lighting industry, research institutions, universities, national laboratories, utilities, and lighting design groups. The 6th Annual R&D Symposium was held to establish a partnership between enterprises, and shared with you the development strategy of high-efficiency, high-performance SSL technology in the process of continuous progress.
