New incandescent lamp? US researchers develop solid-state incandescent LEDs

Is the incandescent lamp dying? It is true that whoever buys the incandescent light bulb now has a foot on the wooden incandescent lamp, but in the microscopic field, the incandescent lamp is likely to be reborn.

Dr. Yue Kuo of Texas A&M University and his former doctoral student Chi-Chou Lin are developing new solid-state devices based on the basic principles of incandescent lamps.

This device, like an incandescent lamp, is illuminated by a heated filament. Unlike ordinary incandescent lamps, however, the filaments here are only 20-150 nanometers in diameter – and the bulbs are very small and need to be made at a semiconductor manufacturing facility.

Simply put, this is the solid-state version of the incandescent bulb invented by Edison. According to the inventor, the bulb can work continuously for more than 7,000 hours.

Kuo named the light bulb "solid-state incandescent LED", where D is not the meaning of the diode, but the meaning of the device device. In fact, the device can be seen as a metal oxide semiconductor capacitor, which is made of a thin amorphous insulating dielectric material sandwiched between the conductor and the P-type silicon. The uppermost conductor portion is made of a transparent sheet (generally indium tin oxide) that allows light to pass through.

In order to enable the device to emit light, the researchers applied a very high voltage to the device, the voltage is high enough to decompose the intermediate dielectric material. Under the action of high voltage, the dielectric material is transformed into a large number of tiny and long-lasting conductive materials. wire. Once the dielectric material is broken down, current can flow through the filaments. Because the filament also has some resistance, heat is generated when the current flows, and when it reaches a certain temperature, it starts to emit light, and the light is then radiated to the outside through the transparent film. Unlike ordinary incandescent bulbs, these sources come from thousands of small light-emitting points.

Like incandescent lamps, solid-state incandescent LEDs emit white light with a wide spectral span. This is very different from traditional LEDs because the wavelength range of light emitted by the LED is very narrow. If you want the LED to emit white light, you should also mix it with a blue LED coated with phosphor or by mixing three red, green and blue bulbs. It glows white.

When it comes to light bulbs, the most important consideration is energy conservation. The team measured less than 1%% u7684 by initial measurement to generate electricity... This luminous efficiency is very low... but Kuo hopes that the final luminous efficiency of the device can exceed Traditional incandescent light bulbs.

The Hydrogel Screen Protector is made of imported material with TPU as the base material and is combined with hydrogel. It has super ductility and retractability, and can perfectly adapt to curved screens and screens with excessively curved edges, so as to fit perfectly without leaving white edges, and basically does not affect the touch experience. It has a strong and effective self-healing function, is impact-resistant, durable, and has better toughness, and has a certain buffering effect on the collision of sharp objects.

The Hydrogel Film is very thin. The responsive, ultra-thin design gives you a bare-bones experience. It's not as thick as a Tempered Glass Screen Protector, so the hydrogel screen protector won't affect the weight and feel of the phone.

In terms of hand feel, the Hydrogel Screen Protective Film has a hydrophobic and oleophobic treatment, so it slides relatively smoothly, and there is no problem in using APP or playing games. In addition, the liquid spilled on it can be slipped off by just tilting it, which is very easy to clean and maintain.
