Working principle of wireless cloner

In order to share the infrared receiving function of the LCD TV, this wireless cloner uses infrared technology to transmit data, so that there is no need to increase the hardware overhead of the TV, and the cost is the lowest.

Selection of data copy method

There are two ways to copy data, one-way and two-way wireless copy.

For two-way wireless copy, the advantage is that no connection cable is needed, but because the TV uses infrared transmission to transmit data to the clone remote control, it takes a long time and has poor reliability. When two-way transmission is used, the TV must have an infrared transmission device, which is incompatible with the existing TV and increases the hardware cost.

For one-way wireless copy, the advantage is that when reading the parent data of a single TV, it is transmitted by wire, using the serial port protocol, which can be ended in two seconds, reliable and time-saving. At the same time, the copier also supports serial connection from PC to the copier, which is convenient for transferring data directly to the copier through the PC, and realizes various ways of data reading. In addition, the TV set does not need to increase the hardware overhead. But you need to get the master data through the serial line.

Based on the above analysis, although the one-way wireless copy needs to obtain the data of the parent machine through the serial line, it can quickly and reliably obtain the parent data without adding hardware overhead, and it also meets the convenience of engineering data copying, so this wireless cloner uses One-way infrared copy technology. After the customer adjusts a TV (mother machine) according to actual needs, the system will store these values ​​on the E2PROM that is provided with the TV set. The general space capacity is about 1K bytes. Read the useful data in the parent machine E2PROM through serial communication connection, and then send these data to the slave machine through wireless infrared. After receiving and decoding the sub-machine through the infrared, it is stored in the local E2PROM to realize the wireless cloning of the data.

Hardware implementation

The wireless cloner uses MEGA8 as the main MCU, works at 5V, and uses battery power supply. Its overall working block diagram is shown in Figure 1.

To achieve wireless copy of data, you must first determine the data that needs to be copied, and the data reading method of the cloner is to read the entire TV through RS-232 communication (various preset analog values ​​have been adjusted) Data, and then store the data in the E2PROM of this cloner. When the cloner needs to read data from a TV set with adjusted values, the RS-232 communication cable connection on the hardware must be implemented between the TV and the cloner. Therefore, the TV with copied data must have an RS-232 interface to communicate with the serial port of the wireless cloner. The connection diagram between the two is shown in Figure 2.

When the cloner is connected to the RS-232 hardware of the TV set, MEGA8 on the cloner will issue a serial command to the device, requesting the TV set to send the required data. The cloner will store the received data in the E2PROM carried by its peripheral circuits. An indicator light is installed on the cloner. When the cloner issues an instruction to start reading data, the indicator light is on. When the data is copied, the indicator light is off.
