DOE Releases LED White Energy Saving Potential Forecast Report

The US Department of Energy (DOE) recently published a forecast report that analyzes and predicts the energy-saving potential of LED white light. The following is the forecast result (compared with the situation where the LED's permeability remains unchanged):

â–² It is expected that LED lighting will occupy 36% (lumen-hour sales) by 2020 and 75% by 2030.

â–² In 2030, it is expected that LED lighting will save 300 terawatt-hours of energy for the United States, or equivalent to saving 50 power plants (about 1,500 megawatts) with an annual capacity of 1,000 megawatts. Calculating current energy prices, LED lighting in the US will save US$30 billion for the United States in 2030.

â–²According to the above projections, LED lighting could reduce carbon emissions by metric tons of carbon in the United States by 2030. The LED will reduce the energy consumed by lighting by about 46%.

DOE also expects that the LED light efficiency will increase from the current 64.3 lm/W to 147.3 lm/W in 2020, and will reach 176.3 lm/W in 2030, and the price will drop from the current 169.49 US$/1000 lumens. 2030 $ 5.03 per thousand lumens.
